Synopsis

Sometimes losing yourself leads right to the place you were looking for ... Secluded and quiet is exactly what Laney Walker is looking for when she decides to pack up and move across the country. It's what she wants, what she thinks she needs—until she meets Joe Boone. Contracted to replace the plumbing along the property, Joe is first to arrive and last to leave. And to Laney's surprising disappointment, he never has much to say. But the more Joe comes around, the more she learns about him and soon finds the man is as flawed as the house he's fixing. A fact that only seems to draw her closer to him. Meet the Author L. C. Morgan resides with her husband on the outskirts of a small town in the heart of it all. A lover of many things, she puts family first and Diet Coke second. When not working she can be found spoiling her new nephew with lots of love and kisses while awaiting her own little bundle of joy or at home, face shoved in her Kindle, fingers typing away to free the words from her head. She writes them for you and hopes you enjoy them as much as she enjoys yours. excerpt The cabin was dark and gloomy in the moonlight, its stairs even squeakier than mine. I slowly followed him up them, waiting until he flipped on the light before stepping inside. The decor was what I would have expected—nonexistent. A plain brown couch was pressed up against the bare wood wall, a boxed-out TV sitting on a makeshift stand on the opposite wall with a set of rabbit ears on top. There were no curtains or throw pillows. No rugs, no runner on the tiny dining room table. But it was clean, and it was cool, and it smelled like him. My eyes fluttered closed as I breathed him in, the scent so overwhelming I felt myself sway. When I opened them again, he was gone. Glancing from side to side, I stepped further inside and peeked down the hallway, finding a bright light shining from an open door. I hesitantly started for it, smiling when I saw it was the bathroom. A towel and washcloth had been left out on the counter by the sink. I moved inside and closed the door, feeling around and then reaching up to find no lock. “Okay …” I mumbled to myself, turning back to the tub and twisting the handles until the temperature was perfect. Glancing back at the door, I quickly stripped out of my clothes, jumped inside and pulled the curtain shut behind me. The water was searing in the best sort of way, steaming up the room and loosening my sore muscles from a day of angry weed pulling. I could have stood under the hot spray all night, just basking in the forceful water pressure. This shower was so much better than Mona’s. Dipping my head back, I closed my eyes to wet my hair, hurriedly wiping the water from my face when I felt a brush of cool air against my legs. My heart pounded, thinking it was Joe, but it was only the air from the furnace blowing the shower curtain. I couldn’t imagine what I would have done if it had been him. The fact that I wanted to find out had me washing off a little quicker. I didn’t know if I was ready for him to see me naked. I dried off and got dressed as close as I could to the door in order to avoid that accident waiting to happen. If he did ever end up seeing me naked, I wanted to be prepared and not look like a drowned cat if I could help it. When I emerged from the bathroom, he was coming down the hallway, shirtless and with the button of his pants undone. I swallowed, unable to take my eyes off his zipper until he reached out for my towel. “Mind if I use that?” “Uh, yeah.” I handed it over. “I mean, not unless you do.” “Nope.” He slid past me and into the bathroom, setting my bag out in the hallway before cracking the door. I stood outside of it while I listened to him adjust the curtain and turn on the shower, trying to decide if I should just take off or not. I was getting ready to knock and tell him I was leaving when the water suddenly shut off, the shower curtain screeched and the door opened to reveal a mess of towel-dried brown hair and a shiny, wet chest. In this second installment of the Lightbearer Series, shifter Finnegan Hennigan is doing his damnedest to keep lightbearer Cecilia Druthers out of trouble. His job is made all the more difficult by the fact that Cecilia doesn't want to stay out of trouble.

Despite their mutual annoyance, sparks ignite between this odd couple. As it becomes increasingly more apparent that someone is out to get Cecilia, the flares of attraction become impossible to resist, and soon, Cecilia and Finn tumble into, well, a closet together. Synopsis

New York City, Late Summer 2009

Like many single women who reside in the city that never sleeps, Micah Foster has had numerous encounters with undesirable men that make her want to renounce love. Just when she’s on the verge of calling it quits in her quest to find love and a sustainable relationship with a Dominant man, her friend Kisa requests her company for a girl’s night out at Spanxxx, a local fetish club. Both Kisa and Micah are seasoned submissive players in the BDSM lifestyle. Micah has been involved in the scene since her early twenties, but she has yet to meet a Dominant she meshes with and takes seriously. Now, at age thirty, she continues to search for a connection that repeatedly eludes her. Under duress, she crosses paths with Dominant Rick Thomas. Unusual and dire circumstances bring the pair together, and he’s exactly what Micah has been searching for.

The Sweetest Taboo is aptly titled. It’s an unconventional erotic love story that provides a different perspective of a relationship involving D/s and BDSM. The reader will follow Micah and Rick’s journey from beginning to end. You’ll laugh, you'll be turned on, and most of all, you’ll find yourself cheering for their love.

*Disclaimer* If rough sex, an interracial pairing (Black woman/White man), D/s, and BDSM are of no interest to you, you should bypass this story. Intended for a mature and kinky audience. Recommended for adults 18+.

 Random fun facts about Harper

1. I enjoy porn. *bow chica wow wow*
2. I was a professional Dominatrix for a spell. They say write what you know!
3. I'm a pop culture junkie! You'll see a few pop culture references in my novel. I'm full of useless pop culture information and was once a semi-finalist on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my favorite show of all time! #teamAngel
5. My favorite movies are: Purple Rain, Desperately Seeking Susan, A Fish Called Wanda, and The Crow
6. I still watch cartoons. Jem and the Holograms is my favorite. It's truly, truly, truly outrageous.
7. I wrote The Sweetest Taboo because I wanted to see an Alpha hero that wasn't a douche! A lot of tales involving BDSM tend to make the hero hard nosed and unlikeable. Rick Thomas completely tosses that ideology aside. He's physically attractive, sensitive, direct, and he's looking for the perfect sub.
8. I went to Catholic school most of my life hehe. The bad girl was always waiting to come out.
9. I hate rollercoasters.
10. I loveeeee to read and I've missed reading these past few months. My favorite authors are Zadie Smith, Toni Morrison, Octavia Butler, Tess Gerritsen, and Nicci French.

Excerpt:
“Afternoon.” I shoved My hands down into the pockets of My lab coat before I did something unprofessional. “Are you all ready to go?”

she nodded. “Yes, Dr. Thomas. The nurse brought my discharge papers a few hours ago. i was just packing my stuff before heading out, but i’m glad You stopped by. i wanted to thank You for Your help.

“i can’t tell You how humbled i am by Your act of kindness. You saved my life, and i will be forever grateful,” she said as her eyes darted around the room, looking everywhere but at Me. she shoved a sweater into her bag with less care than she took with her other clothing.

her words were sincere, but for whatever reason, I must have made her nervous, although I wasn’t sure why. she gathered the plastic bag and her purse before quickly brushing past Me and exiting the room.

This was not how I envisioned things going. I increased My pace and caught up with micah at the nurse’s station. It was all or nothing; I only had a few moments to make an impression.

“ms. foster? micah?” I called out. I composed Myself as I approached her.

she slowed her pace, bid farewell to the nurses, then turned in My direction. I jumped at the opportunity, unable to wait a moment longer. “ms. foster, I was hoping to speak with you before you left. Once you signed the discharge papers, the doctor-patient relationship ended. That means I’m no longer your treating physician and you’re no longer My patient. With that said, I have a question I’d like to ask. Please hear Me out. Don’t take this the wrong way . . .”

her facial expression was unreadable, so I continued.

“I’m not trying to be a creep, but I would regret letting you leave today without at least giving this a fair shot. I sincerely apologize if you feel this is inappropriate or too forward, but ms. foster, I’d love your company for a drink or dinner . . . whichever you’d prefer. Will you allow Me to take you out?”

Waiting for her answer seemed to take an eternity. she didn't look at My face; instead her gaze landed somewhere around the name embroidered on the left breast pocket of My lab coat. her lower lip found its way between her teeth as she stared, apparently deep in thought. In what seemed to be a delayed reaction, she gawked up at My face, clearly surprised by My question.

Was she put off by the entire idea or just caught off guard by My request? Either way, her answer would let Me know which way she was leaning. I just hoped to God she wasn’t leaning toward no.

she finally provided Me a small reprieve. “You want to take me out?”

“Yes.”

“Like on a date?”

“Yes,” I replied again.

“i’m sorry, Dr. Thomas, but i don’t date,” she said, dismissing Me as she continued toward the elevators.

Oh, she was going to make this interesting. her flippant attitude bothered the hell out of Me, but I was going to see this through. I quickly followed in an attempt to catch her before the elevator doors opened and she walked out of My life.

Coming to select e-book retailers on 11/27 Thanksgiving Day!

Cranberries and Spice Blog Hop

*waves like a lunatic*

This is my first blog hop and am so excited that you've stopped by. So many of you may not know me and I'd love to rectify that. I'm a new author with a romantic suspense debut coming out in late January 2015. I'll tell you more about that later on but for now let's talk about Allyn's Thanksgiving traditions.

Being from another country, even though I've lived in the United States from over twenty odd years, the festivities surrounding Thanksgiving continues to leave me in amazement. The family I've married into are Southerners and whenever we go to my in-laws' home to celebrate this day, the decorations, bright colors, and wonderful scents inside their homes are what I look forward to the most. My family traditionally eats around 5PMish EST. Dinner gets underway after my grandfather-in-law prays and without fail, my mother-in-law hogs the cranberry sauce. Two years ago, she finally convinced me to stop bypassing the cranberry sauce in favor of the gravy she makes from scratch. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. I'm glad that I tried it but ever since that time, boy is it hard to pry that decorative holder from my mother-in-law's grasp away :).

Once dinner is consumed, we play games (again, we're a loud and rambunctious bunch; also, my family is filled with cheaters so you know how that goes lol) and just hang around. Most times, I'm with the younger children, playing Wii or Uno. To be honest, I'm usually knocked out on a couch while they are playing.

Next up is one of my absolute favorite time: dessert.

I love desserts. All kinds (hold the nuts and minced fruits please) but especially pumpkin pie. My mouth waters just thinking about it. And the last thing my family does: we take turns, EVERYONE, in sharing what we're most thankful for and the night ends with a prayer for continued growth in our family, forgiveness, love, and safe traveling (for those who won't be spending the night).

So those are some of the Thanksgiving traditions I happily participate in every year and I will be looking forward to doing this year. The giveaway below asks for your comment to qualify for a chance to win the giveaway item, please share what you're looking forward to during this Thanksgiving season. If you're not celebrating or living in a country that doesn't celebrate this holiday, please still share what you're thankful for in 2014.

Okay, remember how up top I told you I'd share more later? Well this is the later part :).

I have a novel that will be part of The Deeper Chronicles. Here's the trailer:

If you liked what you saw, come hang out at the release party with myself, a bunch of fabulous authors and bloggers.

Make sure you hop on over to the other participating bloggers' and authors' sites.

Review:
I have not reviewed a novel in many months due to trying to get my debut published, so please bear with me. I was gifted a copy of Wildcat in Moscow in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big fan of romantic suspense novels. I love seeing the bad boy brought to his knees, figuratively, and transformed by love. From page one, Miss Chase brings us into the hectic world of Chelsea. Without giving much away, we meet an innocent who is being taken advantaged of. Next, we see Chelsea becoming a "wildcat" to protect herself from those who demanded answers to questions she didn't know (you'll have to read the book). After this, Chelsea is whisked away to Moscow by the hero, Vladimir, who aids her from a perilous situation. We meet Vlad's cohorts, laughing at their brotherly antics and gently root for Chelsea and Vlad to get together.

I loved locale. I loved that Chelsea was not overly aware of her beauty and choose to dress as she saw fit. I loved Vlad's friends.

A  few things didn't work for me. There missing words from sentences. There weren't a lot but when they occurred they pulled me from the story. At times, it was difficult to follow conversations especially when involved Vlad, Chelsea, and Vlad's friends. The reason was because of the lack or limited use of dialogue tags.

While the novel has 'only' ten chapters, don't be fooled that the novel is brief. Wildcat in Moscow shares a sweeping tale of a woman's determination to stand on her own two feet and the man who helps her accomplish that feat. Give Miss Chase's novel (as well as her other romantic suspense novels) a chance.

Excerpt:

The bouncer at the door wasn’t too pleased at the sight of Chelsea’s parka or her Save The Rainforest t-shirt, but when she smiled sweetly and mentioned George’s name, he reconsidered and let her in.
The club was loud, crowded with groups of half-drunk rowdy men and very, very pink. The walls, tables and even the bar stools were a uniform creamy rose that exactly matched the skin tones of half a dozen scantily clad girls dancing on a stage. From a distance it looked as though six sets of tiny bikinis were gyrating to the beat of the music.
“Surreal,” Chelsea said out loud. Still laughing, she turned and bumped up against someone.
“Surreal?” a voice repeated with amusement. “That’s not an expression I’ve heard used here before.”
“Sorry,” Chelsea said automatically. “I didn’t see you.” She looked up and stepped back instinctively.
His short cropped blond hair and lean aquiline features were classic but the hard grey eyes and deadpan expression screamed danger.
I shouldn’t have come here, Chelsea thought.
As if sensing her thoughts, he smiled slightly. “No problem.” He looked her over critically. He spoke fluently but with a rough inflection that was definitely foreign. “You don’t belong here,” he said bluntly. “Why are you here?”
“I’ve come to look for someone,” Chelsea stammered.
“Who?”
Chelsea wanted to tell him to mind his own business but realised that he might be able to help her. “I’m looking for friends of George McAllister.”
He frowned down at her. “But not for McAllister himself,” he noted.
“Do you know him?” Chelsea asked. “He comes in here pretty often, two or three times a week I think.”
He said nothing and Chelsea could read nothing from his expression.
“If you know him, maybe you can help me,” Chelsea pleaded. “It won’t take long and I have money.” He frowned at her. “I mean, I can buy you a drink,” Chelsea faltered.
The hard grey eyes looked her over again, resting on her hair, her t-shirt and her jeans. Despite the thick parka, Chelsea suddenly felt naked. Resisting the impulse to run away, she stood her ground determinedly.
“I’ve met him,” he finally conceded.
“Then can we talk?”
“He’s bad news. Not the sort of person you should be hanging out with.”
“You don’t understand. I’m in real trouble. Please, I just need a few minutes of your time.”
“Vlad, are you coming?” A tall blonde in a sequined black cocktail dress appeared at his side. She looked at Chelsea and seeing the thick parka dismissed her instantly. “I’m thirsty,” the blonde said while taking his arm possessively.
Vlad, Chelsea thought. Short for Vladimir. Russian. And by the look of his dark blue silk shirt and slim gold watch, a rich one too. One of those business moguls, she thought to herself, vaguely remembering stories in the newspapers of Russian oil and telecommunication billionaires.
Vladimir shrugged the girl off. “Go sit. I’ll be there in a moment,” he said.
“But the others have just arrived,” the blonde pouted. “They’ll be expecting you to join them.”
“So they’ll wait a bit,” Vladimir said coldly. “Go on. I want to talk to this girl here.” With a malevolent glance at Chelsea the girl flounced off.
“Thanks,” Chelsea said gratefully. “I really appreciate your helping me.”
“I haven’t said I will yet,” he answered.

Noah shoved his hands in his pockets so he wouldn’t touch her without permission. “What’s your name?”
She straightened her posture, meeting his stare while folding her arms over her chest. “What’s yours?”
Noah laughed out loud.
Well look at this. She has the balls to question me to my face?
He stepped closer to the woman who piqued his interest. “I like that you don’t scare easily. But I asked you first.”
Damn, she’s short. Her head just reached his shoulder. His gaze lowered to her open-toe gold shoes that showed off the cutest digits he’d ever seen. He appreciated that even in heels he towered over her. Her glare greeted him when he returned his attention back to her face.
“And I asked you second,” she countered with a hand on her hip. “We could play this all night, Mister.”
Noah’s gaze deliberately dropped from her tasty-looking lips down to her green dress with the cutout that flirted with her thick thighs. Noah slowly retraced his path up her body and conveyed his intent.
Oh yeah, I’m so fucking you tonight.
By the time their eyes connected again, Noah’s grin had split his face, revealing a set of deep dimples and gleaming white teeth. She failed miserably at making her small smile into a scowl. His grin disappeared when she took a step backward.
“Noah Adams.” The name you’ll be screaming later. He stretched his right hand out, hoping she’d be polite enough to shake. The feel of her hand would have to hold him until he got to the rest in his bed later.
